My Portfolio

What did you learn?
-          I learned a lot this semester at the Oh institute. It’s a different type of learning that you would get in public school. I’ve had the chance to study things that I chose and enjoyed. This semester I studied and learned world history, English literature, and topics of my choice by using the PBL process.
How do you know you learned it?
-          As months go by I still remember what I had studied. I think the reason I can do that is because I could do the projects anyway I wanted. This gave me unlimited ways to handle a pbl.
What got in the way of your learning?
-          At first it was a little difficult switching from a public school schedule to the PBL and FLVS schedule. Yet with time it became easy to adjust. Also common problems that occurred in regular public school happened at OH as well, such as talking and other distractions.
What helped your learning?
-          I seemed to stay focused and learn more when I was either isolated or there was no talk going on in the room.  We had to find experts for our projects. They were useful when you lack experience in the field that you studying.
How did you feel?
-           I enjoyed each project. So were more difficult than others but I learned a lot from it. I now know of things I want to improve on next year, if I decide to attend the OH institute next year.
What was your favorite project?
                – The Creative Learning Dream Project
Why was it your favorite project?
-           I had been interested in dreams for a while. When our group sat down to talk about a project subject, creativity, intently I thought of dreams. How they are formed by your own individual creativity.
How will you use what you learned this year to help you with next year’s project work?
–         At first it was a little difficult to do the projects assigned. Yet within a couple of months I learned how to use my resources at the OH more useful than I started. Also gaining better time management skills helps me with taking courses at two different schools.
